Description:
A ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM) specialist typically acts as a bridge between technical implementation and business service strategy.
At this level, the role shifts from basic configuration to designing the structural framework that ensures data accuracy across ITOM, ITSM, and APM modules.
Core Responsibilities
• Framework Implementation: Lead the design and rollout of CSDM 4.0 standards across the instance, focusing on all domains: Foundation, Crawl (Technical Services), Walk (Business Services), and Run.
• CMDB Governance: Establish data governance policies to ensure Configuration Management Database (CMDB) health, including data accuracy, completeness, and reconciliation.
• Service Mapping & Discovery: Configure and maintain ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping to automate the population of CI relationships in alignment with the CSDM model.
• Stakeholder Consultation: Partner with service owners and business leaders to define service offerings and dependencies, translating business needs into technical blueprints.
• Module Integration: Ensure CSDM alignment for cross-module functionalities like Incident impact analysis, Change risk assessment, and Application Portfolio Management (APM).
Technical Skills & Requirements
•
Experience: 6+ years of total ServiceNow experience, with at least 3+ years specifically focused on CSDM/CMDB architecture.
• Platform Expertise: Mastery of Flow Designer, Discovery Patterns, and Identification & Reconciliation Engine (IRE).
• Scripting: High proficiency in JavaScript and GlideScript for complex business rules and custom integrations.
• Certifications:
o Certified System Administrator (CSA).
o Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) – ITOM/Discovery/Service Mapping
