Mandatory Skill:
- 7+ years of overall experience as a SQL Server DBA.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in Azure/cloud, specifically in Platform as a Service (PaaS) environments
- Strong expertise in SQL Server 2016–2022 administration.
- Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
- Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, backup/recovery, and HA/DR design.
- Proven experience in database migration, modernization, and upgrades across on-prem and Azure environments.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure provisioning in Azure using Terraform modules and/or Bicep.
- Strong experience with Agile methodology, including sprint ceremonies, backlog handling, and story-based delivery.
- Hands-on working experience with Jira, including stories, tasks, workflows, and sprint tracking.
- Experience with DevOps practices for databases, including GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments.
- Proficiency in PowerShell or Azure CLI for automation.
- Good understanding of database deployment processes aligned with DevOps ways of working.
- Strong knowledge of Azure networking, including VNets, Private Link, firewall rules, and connectivity patterns for database services.
- Experience in security and compliance controls such as TDE, data masking, access control, and Microsoft Entra ID integration.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead teams, work with stakeholders, and handle requirement gathering conversations.
- Willingness to work in a 24x7 rotational shift environment.
- Manage and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments across on-premises, virtual machines, and Azure SQL PaaS platforms.
- Administer Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and optimization.
- Provision database infrastructure using the Azure Portal and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or Bicep.
- Lead the full database lifecycle: installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and decommissioning.
